THE ROLE OF DISGUST IN BDD AND ANXIETY DISORDERS
A research project examining the role of the disgust in Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD) and anxiety disorders is currently being conducted at the Bio-Behavioral Institute. Disgust is an emotion that has seldom been studied in psychology but probably plays an important role in various disorders, such as OCD. This study is open to individuals with BDD, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Panic Disorder, Social Anxiety Disorder, and to individuals without psychiatric diagnoses. A free diagnostic interview and small compensation will be provided. You can play a crucial role in helping us gain important information about these disorders so that treatment techniques can be enhanced. If interested or for further information, please contact Anna (516-487-7116) and refer to the “BDD study”.
VISUAL PERCEPTUAL FACTORS IN BDD AND OCD
A research project examining the role of visual perception in Body Dysmorphic Disorder and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder is currently being conducted at the Bio-Behavioral Institute. This study is open to adolescents and adults. A free diagnostic interview and small compensation will be provided. You can play a crucial role in helping us gain important information about these disorders so that treatment techniques can be enhanced. If interested or for further information, please contact Anna (516-487-7116) and refer to the “BDD study”.
CORE BELIEFS IN BDD AND OCD
This study is examining specific patterns of beliefs in individuals with Body Dysmorphic Disorder and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Certain core beliefs are more commonly found in particular disorders. For example, a specific belief for BDD would include, "If I don't look perfect, then I won't be noticed." Other core beliefs may be shared by the general population, such as "I must be perfect in all I do." Investigating the specific and general core beliefs in BDD and OCD can help in improving cognitive-behavioral treatment for these sometimes debilitating disorders. This study is open to adults. By participating in this study, you will receive a free diagnostic test and gain more insight into the cognitive nature of BDD and OCD. If you are interested in participating or for further information, please call us at (516) 487-7116 and refer to "The Belief Study."
