Jose A. Yaryura-Tobias, M.D., Medical Director
Dr. Yaryura-Tobias is a biological psychiatrist and an intermist with over 30 years experience in addition to being a writer and a poet. He has pioneered research in the dopamine theory of schizophrenia and the biological theory of obsessive compulsive disorder. He is co-author of six books with Fugen A. Neziroglu, Ph.D. entitled Obsessive Compulsive Disorder: Pathogenesis, Diagnosis and Treatment (New York: Marcel Dekker, 1983), Over and Over Again Understanding Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (Boston: Lexington Books, 1991), Epidemia Oculta (Cangrejal, 1993), The Obsessive Compulsive Disorder Spectrum (American Psychiatric Press, 1997), Trastornos Obsesivo - Compulsivos (Madrid: Harcourt Brace, 1997), and Biobehavioral Treatment of Obsessive-Compulsive Spectrum Disorders (New York: Norton, 1997) . He is also author of The Integral Being (New York: Holt, 1987).
Dr. Yaryura-Tobias has presented and-or published over 270 scientific papers and book chapters. He received his medical degree at the National University of Buenos Aires. He completed internships in Argentina, Canada and the U.S., originally specializing in internal medicine and later in biological psychiatry. He is a professor of psychiatry at New York University. He is a member of numerous national and international societies, and a founding member of the International College of Psychosomatic Medicine, the Argentine Society of Biological Psychiatry and the World Federation of Biological Psychiatry.

Fugen A. Neziroglu, Ph.D., ABBP, ABPP, Clinical Director
Dr. Neziroglu is a behavior and cognitive therapist who has been involved in the research and treatment of anxiety disorders and depression for over twenty years. She is a scientist and practitioner who has presented and published over 100 papers in scientific journals and books. She is co-author of six books with Dr. Yaryura-Tobias.
Dr. Neziroglu received her Ph.D. In clinical, school-community psychology from Hofstra University. She is Board Certified in Cognitive and Behavior Therapy from the American Board of Behavioral Psychology (ABBP) and in Clinical Psychology from the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP). She is also a Board Member and a Fellow of ABBP's Academy. She has done post-graduate work in behavior and cognitive therapy. She is an Associate Professor at Hofstra University, Department of Psychology and Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at New York University.
At the Bio-Behavioral Institute, Dr. Neziroglu provides direct services, supervises all assistant psychologists and psychology interns, sponsors many doctoral dissertations and conducts research. She is a member of many national and international societies and is on the Scientific Advisory Board of the Obsessive Compulsive Foundation.
